2006 Sales Results -2007 - A YEAR OF GROWTH
Volvo Cars is in an unprecedented period of new product introductions – seven new car launches from 2006 to 2009. This year includes the XC60 concept, unveiled at the Detroit Motor show in the beginning of the year, and will be followed by new models already at Geneva Motor show.
The global sales for 2006 were down 3.6 per cent compared to 2005. However the fourth quarter showed a strong sales increase and I feel confident that this trend will continue in 2007 now that the new cars the C70, S80 and C30 are available on the market. The all new Volvo S80 is launched on the important American market, and we will continue with the introduction of the C30. Volvo’s new small car has already received several prestigious awards such as Das Goldenes Lenkrad (the Golden Steering Wheel).
During 2007 the main challenges will be to implement our growth plan in developing markets such as China and Russia and at the same time maintaining our market share in the mature markets. We will also work hard to address the customers’ demands for reduced fuel consumption and alternative drivelines.
We will show that we work seriously with the core value environmental care.
I am looking forward to an exciting year with the most extensive product range up in Volvo Cars history.
