Technical concept III (parallel-connected)
The Range Extender is used to give the electric car more driving range. The electric motor (111 hp) is combined with a three-cylinder petrol turbo engine (190 hp), a two-stage automatic transmission and a 40 kW generator. The combustion engine can drive the front wheels via the gearbox and recharge the battery pack when needed. Functionality: • Standard mode: Electricity from the battery powers the electric motor. • When the battery is depleted (speeds up to 50 km/h): The petrol engine charges the battery via the generator. The battery powers the car via the electric motor. • When the battery is depleted (speeds over 50 km/h): The petrol engine powers the car via the gearbox. It is also possible to charge the batteries at the same time in order to save power for a pure electric drive later. • Sport mode: The petrol engine and the electric motor cooperate to offer maximum power.Note: The illustration describes the functionality of the technology, not showing the exact technical solution
