Tests in the emission laboratory
Volvo Cars state-of-the-art diesel emission test cell. One of the first sites in Europe to comply with the upcoming emission regulation EURO5/6. Diesel particulates are measured at the Volvo Cars mass metrology laboratory using a micro balance with a resolution of 0.0000001 g (0.1 micro gram). Protective clothing is used to ensure correct measurements and minimize variability. A fraction of hair (1 mm length) weighs approximatly 5 micrograms which is comparable to the particulate mass which is being measured after an emission test.
