Autonomous drive technology – surround view cameras
As a part of the autonomous driving project Drive Me, Volvo Cars is presenting a unique, complete system solution that makes it possible to integrate self-driving cars in real traffic – with ordinary people in the driver’s seat. The camera, located in the rear bumper, is one of four cameras that detects and monitor objects in close proximity to the vehicle. There are also cameras under the outer rear-view mirrors and in the grille. The cameras have a high dynamic range and can handle very quick changes in the lightning conditions, e.g. when entering a tunnel. The image illustrates functionality of technologies that are being developed and tested by Volvo Cars. The technology is currently not available in any Volvo cars.
