As a part of the autonomous driving project Drive Me, Volvo Cars is presenting a unique, complete system solution that makes it possible to integrate self-driving cars in real traffic – with ordinary people in the driver’s seat.
Long-range radars are placed in the rear of the car ensure a good rearward detection of vehicles in parallel lanes. This technology is particularly useful when changing lanes because it can detect fast-moving vehicles approaching from far behind.
The image illustrates functionality of technologies that are being developed and tested by Volvo Cars. The technology is currently not available in any Volvo cars.
