The first Volvo XC90
May 4, 1999 was an important day for the XC90 project. In 41 degrees heat, the three design proposals were shown on Volvo's test track outside Phoenix in Arizona. Management and part of the project team were on site to agree on the design direction. The winning exterior proposal was designed ​​by Doug Frasher from Volvo's Concept & Monitoring Center in California, who also designed the exterior of the Volvo S80.
