TORONTO - Sales of Volvo vehicles in June matched the pace of the same month last year as the company reported 1,006 units sold during the month, down just 1.9 per cent from sales of 1,026 in June 2001.
For the first half of 2002, Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. reported sales of 4,995 units, up 7.9 per cent over the 4,628 sold during the same six-month period of last year.
Sales for June, 2002, were on par with the brisk pace of the same month last year and reflected a balance in demand across the model line, said Volvo Cars of Canada president and chief executive Paul Cummings.
"We are seeing consistent, strong demand for S60 sedans, V70 wagons and the popular V70 Cross Country," said Cummings. "The compact S40 has improved, and we see a good market for the entire Volvo line as we begin to sell down the remaining 2002 model inventory."
Volvo Cars of Canada is part of the Volvo Car Corporation of Göteborg, Sweden. The company provides marketing, sales, parts, service, technology and training support to the 42 Volvo automobile retailers across the country. The 2002 Volvo automobile line includes the flagship S80 luxury sedan, versatile V70 wagon and rugged Cross Country, exotic C70 coupe and convertible, the sporty S60 sedan and compact S40 and V40 models.
