The line-up of 2001 Volvo V70 wagons has expanded by one with the arrival of the new V70 2.4, a high-value edition of one of the most popular models from Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd.
With all of the features, safety and versatility of the new V70 and proven power from a normally-aspirated 2.4-litre in-line 5-cylinder engine, the new V70 2.4 is expected to represent a significant portion of wagon sales. The V70 2.4 joins the V70 2.4T and V70 T5 in the model line-up.
In standard trim, the V70 2.4 represents the best of the new V70 design at prices starting from $37,495.
The V70 2.4 shares all of the innovative safety technology that made the 2.4T and T5 models Volvo=s safest wagons, including "smart" front air bags with dual-stage deployment, Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) with side air bags and Volvo-designed Inflatable Curtain (IC) side impact protection, Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS) seats and many other safety features.
The 2.4-litre, 168 hp engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing qualifies the V70 2.4 as a Low Emissions Vehicle, and posts Transport Canada fuel economy figures of 10.7 litres per 100 kilometres city and 7.6 L/100km highway with the standard 5-speed manual transmission. A new 5-speed automatic transmission with adaptive programming is an available option.
The long list of standard equipment for the V70 2.4 includes 15 inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry with security system, 4-channel ABS brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution, heated power mirrors, heated front seats, dual zone electronic climate control, interior pollen and dust filter, premium audio system with full logic cassette, 4 x 25-watt amplifier and six speakers, and many other comfort and convenience features. The extensive list of options includes leather upholstery, power sunroof, Stability and Traction Control, enhanced premium audio systems, dual child booster seat, a Security Package and many other options which permit the V70 2.4 buyer to equip the wagon to his/her taste.
