Volvo Adventure – inspiration and knowledge for the leaders of the future

Volvo Adventure is an education programme for young people between 10 and 16 years of age. Organized in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the programme is designed to heighten environmental awareness and encourage environmental activities among the decision makers of the future. Environmental projects designed to improve the local environment are undertaken by groups numbering a maximum of five.

 

The best projects are invited to attend the Volvo Adventure Award conference in Göteborg, May 6-10, 2005. The conference will enable the students to share ideas with other young people from all over the world. The three best entries will receive grants to continue the project work.

 

Over 100 students from all over the world will gather on the Volvo Adventure conference in Göteborg and media is welcome to join the conference during the following events:

 

May 8
10.00-12.30 Visits to Universeum Science Centre 
14.00-20.00 Liseberg Amusement Park

 

May 9
09.00-12.00 Project Presentations in the Congress Hall, Göteborg Convention Centre to the international jury (joint project with the Science Festival Göteborg)
13.00-16.00 Workshops – youngsters write Statement to World Leaders to be presented to UNEP
17.00-21.00 Volvo Forest Adventure – outdoor activity at Hällsnäs

17.00-18.00 Award ceremony and announcement of winners by UNEP (United Nations EnvironmentProgramme) and Curt Germundsson, Senior Executive Advisor, Volvo Car Corporation
