Volvo Cars model line for 2002 S60: What’s new

 

 

Volvo S60 AWD

New to the S60 range, the 2002 S60 AWD marks the debut of a new, electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system for enhanced security and control. The S60 AWD utilizes the responsive 2.4-litre 5-cylinder engine with low pressure turbocharger and 5-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission in conjunction with a sophisticated Active On Demand (AOD) system that automatically distributes power between the front and rear wheels to optimize traction in all conditions.

An expanded list of standard equipment and enhancements to available features builds on the success of S60 in its first year. The addition of the new S60 AWD brings to four the number of S60 versions available for 2002, including the base S60 2.4, popular S60 2.4T and sporty S60 T5. Major technical specifications remain the same. Notable changes include:

  • Standard electric foldable rear headrests
  • Optional enhanced Volvo Navigation System with single disk for US, larger screen, optional remote control and increased functionality
  • Improved throttle response for 2.4T and T5
  • Stability & Traction Control for 2.4T, AWD and T5
  • Available Dynamic Stability & Traction Control (DSTC) for T5
  • Sunroof is standard for 2.4, 2.4T and AWD
  • Standard CD player for T5
  • Sport Package (T5 only) with 17-inch wheels
