TORONTO, ON (September 1, 2010) Volvo Cars of Canada Corp. today announced a total of 521 vehicles sold in August 2010 contributing to year to date sales of 4,763 compared to 4,545 in 2009, a 4.8 increase over the same period last year.
The XC90 was the top performing vehicle of the month, selling 145 units, a 35.5% increase over the previous month's sales. "We are pleased with the sales numbers for August and in particular with the performance of the XC90," says Jeff Pugliese, President & CEO, Volvo Cars of Canada Corp. "We are also excited for a strong finish to this year as we get set to officially launch of the all-new S60 this month."
Volvo previewed the all-new S60 to rave reviews at select Experiential Tour events in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver this summer. "This is an exciting time for us, as we introduce the S60 to the Canadian market," adds Pugliese. The S60 has been a major volume contributor for Volvo in North America and the all-new S60 looks to continue that trend in the third and fourth quarters this year. The all-new S60 arrives with a 300-horsepower turbocharged T6 engine, available Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake, dynamic handling characteristics and stunning design with a base price of just $45,450.
