RICHMOND HILL, ON (Monday, May 3, 2021) – Volvo Car Canada Ltd. is pleased to announce a record-breaking April result: a total of 1,033 vehicles were retailed throughout the month, for a 303.5 percent increase over April of 2020. Year-to-date, the company exceeded last year’s results, delivering a total of 3,132 units, or an increase of 89.6 percent.
April marked the tenth consecutive month of year-over-year growth for the leader in automotive safety, sustainability, and human-centric mobility. As in previous months, these results were bolstered by continued demand for the Recharge powertrains, which accounted for more than 20 percent of all sales in the month of April.
April also marked a record month for Certified by Volvo sales, with 307 units being retailed for year-over-year growth of 687 percent. Year-to-date, 1,139 Certified by Volvo units have been delivered, representing a year-over-year increase of 81.6 percent.
“April represented a promising start to the second quarter despite the uncertain market conditions,” said Matt Girgis, managing director of Volvo Car Canada Ltd. “The strong performance of both our new and pre-owned channels is encouraging. With our best April on record for Certified by Volvo, and an ever-increasing demand for our lineup of electrified vehicles, I am optimistic that the momentum we have built so far this year will continue well into the summer months.”
