TORONTO (July 4, 2005) – To reflect the growing consumer demand for luxury vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive, the 2006 Volvo S80 sedan will be offered exclusively with upgraded All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment.
The electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system now includes Instant Traction for faster distribution of engine power to the rear wheels. First seen on the 2006 XC90 V8, AWD with Instant Traction is now available with every 2006 Volvo vehicle.
The S80 AWD is powered by the proven and popular 208-horsepower, 2.5-litre in-line 5-cylinder engine with low-pressure turbocharging. Combined with an electronically-controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic shifting, the engine is remarkably responsive and smooth. The 2006 S80 AWD will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $54,995.
Option package choices have been reduced to from two to one high-content, high-value Luxury Package ($3,900) for 2006.
For 2006, the T6 engine and trim will no longer be offered.
