TORONTO (May 3, 2005) – Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. today announced the company set a new sales record for the month of April.

The 1,163 Volvo vehicles sold last month eclipsed the 1,040 units sold in April, 2004, by a substantial 11.8 per cent. Volvo Canada’s previous April sales record was set in 1974 with 1,137 units.

April’s strong sales performance pushed 2005 year-to-date figures to 3,741 units, 7.7 per cent ahead of the 3,473 units sold during the same four month period last year.

“It’s always a satisfying experience to set new sales records,” said Paul Cummings, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Canada. “Our recent sales performance is a reflection of a strong product line-up that’s only getting better. With the introduction of the S60 Sport Edition, V70 Sport Edition and the XC70 Titanium and Black Sapphire Editions, we’re seeing increased interest in our entire line-up.”
