Don Docksteader Volvo program to raise money for Canuck Place

For immediate release

VANCOUVER (May 3, 2005) – In celebration of its 75th year in business, Vancouver-based Don Docksteader Volvo will help raise money for the Canuck Place children’s hospice.

On May 7, Don Docksteader Volvo will host anniversary celebrations where Volvo owners will have the opportunity to purchase a coupon good for two express oil changes for $75 (regularly $44.95 each) and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Canuck Place.

“Raising money for Canuck Place is a wonderful way for Don Docksteader Volvo to celebrate 75 years of business,” said Paul Cummings, president and CEO of Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. “It’s a way for us to contribute to an organization that works to improve the quality of life for children who need expert care. I encourage Volvo owners in the area to come out to the celebrations and help support a truly worthwhile cause.”

Canuck Place opened in November 1995 as North America’s first freestanding children’s hospice. It provides an option to hospital or home care for families with children who have progressive, life-limiting illness. Located in Vancouver’s Shaughnessy Heights district, the 16,000 sq.-ft. residence operates on charitable donations and support to provide pediatric palliative care free-of-charge to the 280 families in its program.

“Our philosophy has always been that long-term success is dependent on people and how you treat them,” said Mark Kellock, vice-president of operations for Don Docksteader Motors. “Not only do we consider our 140 employees as family, we also believe that our customers are part of that family. Canuck Place is all about family, too. There is a strong need for their services and we wanted to find a way for our employees and customers to provide some support to Canuck Place. I encourage all Volvo owners to join us on May 7 and find out how a simple oil change can make you feel so good.”

The donation is possible through the co-operation of Don Docksteader Volvo, Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. and Castrol Canada Inc.
