Volvo Cars Announces Volvo Concierge Services, Pilot Program

Volvo Cars Introduces First Connected Car Technology to Make Life Less Complicated

LOS ANGELES, CA. (November 17th, 2016.) Today at Automobility LA Volvo Cars introduced Volvo Concierge Services: a new connected-car technology app that could end the need for time-consuming trips to the gas station, car wash, service and more.

Volvo Concierge Services is the first expandable digital ecosystem that connects car owners with convenience services via a smartphone App. Developed in response to changing consumer behaviour, it provides a seamless ownership experience by expanding on Volvo’s current On Call connected car app.

Volvo Cars has announced the roll-out of a pilot program in San Francisco, targeting 300 hundred Volvo owners driving new XC90 and S90 vehicles. During the pilot program, owners will have the ability to coordinate remote fuel delivery, Volvo maintenance and valet car cleaning of their vehicle; this program’s development is a genesis of the brand’s continued efforts to make our customers lives easier.

“Volvo Concierge Services will mean that you never have to stand out in the rain to fill your car again,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “At Volvo Cars our mission is to make life less complicated, and this is a great example of how in-car technology can be used to deliver this”

The Volvo owners participating in the pilot can use the pilot app to identify concierge services available in the immediate vicinity and order them via their smartphone. Requests are then sent to an authorized Volvo service provider, who will refuel the vehicle, take it for a valet, and perform scheduled maintenance based on what the owner has requested.

When connected through their mobile device, Volvo Concierge provides a one-time-use digital key, which is location and time-specific, and sends it to the authorized service provider. When services are complete, the car is locked and the digital key expires. The car can also be returned to where the customer left it or delivered to a completely new location at the customer’s request.

The pilot program will commence November 2016 in San Francisco, California.
