Launched in early 2009 exclusively with a 281-horsepower T6 engine, Volvo Cars of Canada Corp. today announced that the XC60 crossover would now also be offered with the company's 235-horsepower inline six cylinder engine currently available in the S80, V70, XC70 and XC90. The XC60 T6 will also be offered with a new R-Design package to heighten the visual appeal and handling of the vehicle. The move broadens the appeal of the company's newest product.
The XC60 will now be offered in three trim levels: the 3.2, 3.2 AWD and T6 AWD. The XC60 3.2 and 3.2 AWD will be equipped with a 3.2-litre, inline six cylinder engine producing 235-horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The T6 AWD will continue with the 281-horsepower, 3.0-litre, inline six cylinder engine producing 295 lb.-ft. of torque and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.2 will be a front-wheel drive vehicle while the 3.2 AWD and T6 AWD will add the company's all-wheel drive system.
Prices for the XC60 3.2 start at $39,995 and vehicles come well-equipped with features such as power driver seat, Electronic Climate Control, heated front seats, electronic parking brake and 16" alloy wheels. The price for the 3.2 AWD start at $44,495, but include additional features such as a laminated panoramic roof, leather seating surfaces, Bluetooth, the Volvo Blind Spot Information System and power passenger seat. The XC60 T6 AWD starts at $49,995 and is very well equipped with additional features such as 18" alloy wheels, Four-C active chassis, Active Bending headlights, power-operated tailgate, rain sensing wipers and a high performance sound system with satellite radio.
Regardless of trim, every XC60 will include the Volvo City Safety system as standard equipment. City Safety operates at speeds below 30 km/h and can avoid or reduce the severity of a rear-end collision by applying up to 50 per cent braking power should the driver take no action to avoid an imminent collision. If the speed difference between the XC60 and the vehicle in front is 15 km/h or less, a collision can be avoided. From 16-30 km/h, City Safety is designed to reduce speed prior to collision in an effort to reduce the severity of the impact.
For the XC60 T6 AWD, buyers can also add an R-Design upgrade for $3,000 to enhance handling and visual appeal. The R-Design adds exterior styling pieces such as 20" alloy wheels, unique grill, unique side-view mirrors, skid plate, exhaust pipes and fog lights. The package also includes a firmer, sport chassis. For the interior, the R-Design adds unique steering wheel, floor mats, sport pedals and sport dials.
