TORONTO, Dec. 2, 2003 - Continued strong sales of Volvo all-wheel drive models in November have helped push Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. toward the best sales year since 1974 with a month still to go, the company has announced.

Sales of 818 units in November was 10.8 per cent ahead of the 738 units sold during the same month last year, and pushed the Volvo Canada year-to-date total past the 10,000 mark. Total sales of 10,112 vehicles for the 11 months of 2003 represents a 13.8 per cent improvement over the 8,884 sold during the same period of 2002.

The 11-month tally so far makes 2003 the fourth best year in the company's history in Canada with a busy month projected for Volvo retailers for December.

Sales continued to be propelled by the range of all-wheel drive models, with consumer interest across the range, from the new S80 AWD luxury sedan and XC90 sport utility vehicle to the popular XC70 and S60 AWD sedan.

"There are lots of things that contribute to sales momentum," observed Paul Cummings, president and chief executive of Volvo Canada, "but the most powerful combination is still good retailers selling good cars. We have both."

Volvo Cars of Canada is part of the Volvo Car Corporation of Göteborg, Sweden. The company provides marketing, sales, parts, service, technology and training support to the 43 Volvo automobile retailers across the country. The 2004 Volvo vehicle line includes the flagship S80 luxury sedan, versatile V70 wagon and rugged XC70, exotic C70 convertible, the sporty S60 sedan, compact S40 and V40, and the award-winning Volvo XC90 sport utility vehicle, described as "the next generation SUV."
