Volvo Canada announces V60 Sportswagon engine choices

TORONTO, ON (Sept. 25, 2013) –Volvo Cars of Canada announces engine choices for the much-anticipated Volvo V60 Sportswagon set to hit showrooms in January. Rolling out during the height of Canadian winter, the V60 will initially be available exclusively with T5 and T6 powerplants mated to Haldex electronically controlled all-wheel-drive with Instant Traction for a dynamic yet confident driving experience.

The V60 Sportswagon provides all the dynamic handling attributes of the S60 sport sedan but offers additional versatility for people who need a wagon. Pricing and additional specifications will be announced at a later date.

Most Powerful Wagon in Volvo History

At the top of the power spectrum is the performance-oriented T6 engine offered in the V60 R-Design, making 325 horsepower and 354 lb.-feet of torque. This extra 25 horsepower and 29 lb.-feet of torque has been achieved by software tuning from Polestar Performance, Volvo’s motorsport partner.

Boasting distinctive R-Design visual cues, unique interior refinements and the performance-tuned T6 engine with enhanced with Advanced Quick Shift — transmission optimization software that improves the speed of each gear change — the V60 R-Design will be the fastest and most powerful wagon in Volvo history.

A new powerful, yet efficient frontier

Due to overwhelming demand around the globe, the V60 will later usher in a new age of powerful, highly efficient, four-cylinder engines in time for summer. Shortly after the initial launch, the two-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder Drive-E gasoline engine will be available exclusively in front-wheel-drive and rated at 240 horsepower. As a result, Canadian V60 customers will be able to choose between the new Drive-E engine and existing powerplants until Volvo transitions solely to four-cylinder engines.

“We strongly believe that the styling, performance, versatility and later fuel economy of the V60 will strike a chord with Canadians,” said Volvo Cars of Canada President and CEO Marc Engelen. “Volvo may be known for wagons but the new Volvo V60 is nothing like you’ve ever seen before in this country.”
