Volvo ReCharge Concept

A “series hybrid” with no mechanical connection between the engine and the wheels. The battery pack is integrated into the luggage compartment. Four electric motors, one at each wheel, provide independent traction power. A four-cylinder 1.6-litre Flexifuel engine drives the generator, which charges the battery pack and powers the wheel motors when the batteries are depleted.
