Dahlgren and Göransson continues STCC title fight at Mantorp

Robert Dahlgren was close to having a perfect season start four weeks ago. The twilight races at Mantorp Park saw team mate Richard Göransson coming close to the perfect STCC result. Pole position, a commanding race one victory and a drive through the field from last to second place in a wet second evening race.

“I am really, really pleased. It was very rewarding that we secured a new double win, that we are first and second in the championship and not least that we extended our team championship lead. The first race might have looked easy, but I pushed hard to get a gap. The second race was close to a full points haul and I gained on Robert in the championship, a really good day,” said Richard Göransson, who is just seven points from Dahlgren.

Dahlgren got a tough start to the day with fifth position in the first race. But the team found a solution to a problem for the second race and Dahlgren navigated his way up through the field to his second win of the season and a maintained championship lead.

“It was incredibly nice to win again. We have fought hard all day but eventually we found what was wrong and I was really motivated for the last race. I had a great fight with Richard and it was great to go side-by-side with a team-mate and have full confidence in each other. I am really looking forward to Anderstorp now,” said Dahlgren.

Prince Carl Philip had a solid season start after missing the Skövde season start, claiming sixth in the first race and eighth in the second race.

“I really enjoyed being back again. I would like to have had a bit more time in the car, but I am pleased with the season start. I have two really talented team mates with Richard and Robert that I can get some tips from,” said Prince Carl Philip.

Dahlgren is still in the lead of the championship ahead of Göransson, but with a mere seven points separating the two. The team championship saw Polestar Cyan Racing extending the lead after two new victories.

“An amazing effort from the entire team, delivering in both dry and wet conditions with a limited time between the races. Richard and Robert made a superb job and we felt comfortable even when they fought hard in the races. A great effort also by Prince Carl Philip who missed the first race, didn’t get a lot of testing and performed really well at Mantorp. It has been a great weekend for Polestar Cyan Racing that the entire team should be proud of,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar.
