Volvo Car Corporation appoints Lars Wrebo as Head of Manufacturing

Volvo Car Corporation appoints Lars Wrebo as the new Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. He succeeds Magnus Hellsten who will take over a newly established position as Vice President European Operations.

 

Lars Wrebo, 50, comes from a position as Executive Vice President of truck manufacturer MAN with responsibility for Production and Logistics. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. After an initial career in the car industry, Lars Wrebo has held a number of management positions at Scania Group before he joined MAN in 2006.

 

"I really look forward to joining Volvo Car Corporation in this exciting time of expansion and cultural transformation. One of my key objectives will be to establish a highly efficient global manufacturing strategy to support the company's growth targets", says Lars Wrebo.

 

He brings 25 years of experience from the automotive business with him to Volvo Car Corporation. His previous positions have given him valuable skills in efficient production strategies, joint ventures and co-operations in multi-cultural environments.

 

"Lars Wrebo is the right person to develop Volvo Car Corporation's Manufacturing division to a global and lean organisation, says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO Volvo Car Corporation. He continues:
"His global experience from the automotive manufacturing business will be an important asset in taking the right steps when growing the company's volumes to our 2020 target of 800,000 cars".

 

Lars Wrebo replaces Magnus Hellsten who will move on to a new position as Vice President European Operations within Volvo Car Corporation's Manufacturing organisation.

 

Lars Wrebo will start his new assignment on April 1st, 2012.
